Preaction
A preaction valve (or pre-action valve) is a critical component in preaction sprinkler systems. These types of fire protection systems are designed to protect areas where water discharge needs careful consideration. There are three different types of preaction systems, non-interlock, single-interlock, or double-interlock. The main differentiator is how the preaction pipe valve is activated and when water is released into the system.
Non-interlock preaction valves operate by keeping the sprinkler piping filled with compressed air or nitrogen, preventing water from entering the piping until the preaction sprinkler system is activated. System activation occurs by either an electric detection device or an automatic (pneumatic) sprinkler.
Single interlock preaction valves operate by the fire alarm detection system activation and can also have supervisory air within the sprinkler piping filled with compressed air or nitrogen.
Double-interlock preaction valves operate by two means of activation. The first being the fire alarm detection system and the second is the preaction pneumatic actuator. When both means of activation are triggered the double-interlock preaction system valve will activate.
Preaction Fire Valve Types
When choosing a preaction valve, it is important to consider the materials and occupants being protected and the activation requirements that would be most effective. Victaulic offers a range of preaction valves that cater to diverse needs. Choose from non-interlock, single-interlock, or double-interlock valves based on your specific requirements.Non-interlock Valve
When a non-Interlock preaction valve is activated by the operation of detection devices or automatic sprinklers, water is released into the piping. This system allows for a very rapid response to fire.
Single-interlock Valve
When a single-interlock valve is activated by the operation of alarm detection devices, water is released into the piping. This system offers less redundancy than a double-interlock system and generally can help with quicker valve activation times.
Double-interlock Valve
When a double-interlock valve is activated by both the operation of alarm detection devices and automatic sprinklers, water is released into the piping. This unique feature adds an extra layer of protection, preventing inadvertent discharge and ensuring a controlled response making it ideal for environments with sensitive equipment or materials.
Victaulic preaction valves deliver precision, dependability and the dual action required for optimal water release. Explore the unparalleled features, benefits and applications that make Victaulic preaction valves the cornerstone of comprehensive fire safety.
