In February 2019, industry-leading engineering professional services firm, WSP, chose the Victaulic Vortex™ Hybrid Fire Extinguishing System for the main server room of their new head office in Brisbane.
Project lead and WSP associate, Aaron Zyle, was impressed by the innovative technology of the system which set it aside from its competitors: “Innovation was a major driver in selecting the Victaulic Vortex™ system. As this project was part of a completely new build, we wanted to use the opportunity to implement an innovative system that was unlike the other competing systems available on the market.”
The Victaulic Vortex™ Hybrid Fire Extinguishing System efficiently absorbs heat and reduces oxygen to extinguish fires. The system uses water droplets smaller than white blood cells in combination with nitrogen that is discharged from a single emitter to effectively extinguish fire. Unlike many standard wet-sprinkler alternatives, the nearly zero-wetting attribute of the system and no need for assurance of tight room integrity allows contractors to easily install and maintain the Victaulic Vortex™ system, without requiring costly clean-up or equipment replacement.
The Victaulic Vortex™ system also presented safety benefits to the WSP project: “Due to the fact we were installing a fire protection system for our main communications room, we wanted to provide a greater level of safety than what is offered by base-option alternative systems, and the Victaulic Vortex™ system gave us that”, added Mr Zyle.
Choosing the Victaulic Vortex™ system also allowed Mr. Zyle to showcase a new and innovative fire safety solution to his clients which WSP has used and tested themselves: “Overall, the project has had a really positive outcome with great results, and the Victaulic Vortex™ system fit our brief perfectly. I’d definitely recommend the Victaulic Vortex™ system to a client.”
