Underground mine explosive storage magazines are extremely sensitive and volatile areas in a mine that require coverage from a dependable, fully functioning fire protection system. Historically, these systems required site personnel to be in close proximity to the fire hazard in order to manually activate the sprinkler system. With the development and availability of automatic sprinkler system technology, manually tripping the system is no longer the primary method of activation, ensuring personnel are out of harm’s way.

Located in Western Australia’s Goldfields, Flying Fox mine was the first to use Victaulic automatic deluge systems in the underground magazine. FireLock NXT™ Valves offer streamlined set-up, simplified maintenance and dependable operation. The simplified trim configurations allowed for fast and easy installation, service and maintenance, which minimized the demand for on-site training and reduced downtime.
