On January 27th, 2021, Victaulic hosted a group of civil engineers from BGE, Inc. at the Victaulic Houston Regional Office. The Victaulic Infrastructure Team held an exclusive training event that addressed grooved system solutions and installation procedures that were tailored to BGE, Inc.
BGE, Inc. is a nationwide consulting firm that provides a wide range of engineering, environmental, surveying, construction management, and planning and landscape architecture services for public and private clients. BGE, Inc. is currently ranking No. 123 in ENR’s 2020 Top 500 Design Firms.
This event was not the first time that Victaulic has partnered with BGE, Inc. on a large-scale critical infrastructure project. BGE, Inc. chose to utilize Victaulic’s solutions for the infrastructure market on the Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer Project in Dayton, Texas. On this project, BGE, Inc. incorporated the Style W77 AGS Flexible Couplings and the Style W257 Dynamic Movement Joints into the design of the pig retrieval station. The project was recognized by Water & Waste Digest Top Water Projects in 2020.
As Water and Wastewater Specialist in Texas, Victaulic’s Josh Tebbe wanted to “provide each of BGE, Inc. with the opportunity to gain hands-on training and knowledge with Victaulic infrastructure and large diameter solutions.” During the event, representatives from BGE, Inc. worked with engineers and specialists from Victaulic to assemble a large diameter 72” W77 AGS Flexible Coupling. The civil engineers followed the installation instructions and observed how the installation of a Victaulic large diameter coupling is simple. BGE, Inc. also participated in AWWA ductile iron, and steel iron pipe size (IPS) demonstrations.
While Tebbe enjoys discussing the benefits that Victaulic’s grooved solutions can provide to BGE, Inc., he enjoys physically showing and demonstrating the solutions even more.
“One of the results of COVID-19 has been countless hours of virtual presentations. Allowing the representatives from BGE to be able to assemble a large diameter pipe coupling had such a significant impact on their perception of Victaulic.”
The group was able to participate in and witness how simple Victaulic’s grooved system solutions can be incorporated into their projects.
Victaulic’s Infrastructure Divisional Manager, Steve Gabriel, worked closely with Tebbe on this interactive experience.
“Having multiple Victaulic specialists present at the event allowed the group to practice social distancing while still maintaining an interactive environment,” said Gabriel. Gabriel also commented that the training experience “strengthened the confidence that BGE, Inc. has in Victaulic’s solutions for the infrastructure market.”
