On December 11th, 2019, Victaulic hosted a group of visitors from Black & Veatch at our Kansas City branch.
Black & Veatch is an employee-owned engineering, procurement, consulting and construction company (EPC), headquartered in the Kansas City metropolitan area. It is the 10th largest majority employee-owned company in the United States. The EPC company has had a significant impact over their 100+ year history; they have executed projects in more than 100 countries on 6 continents. The company focuses domestically and globally in the power, oil and gas, water, telecommunications, government, mining, data centers, water, and wastewater markets.
The group of visitors from Black & Veatch that visited were teams supporting the company’s efforts and projects in the power generation and water treatment markets. The visitors included design engineers, pipe stress engineers, construction engineers, as well as procurement and estimating. Victaulic’s Dan Christian and Chris Iasielo hosted the event at the Kansas City branch. The goal of the visit was to showcase Victaulic’s capabilities in product innovation, fabrication, coordination, and estimating.
The visit allowed Black & Veatch to have a hands-on experience with the Victaulic products, services, and fabrication capabilities. Product demonstrations were completed during the visit; covering: Victaulic fabrication capabilities, Installation-Ready™, AGS on 14” Victaulic Couplings, Fittings and Valves. Hydraulic pressure tests were performed on a variety of products, including couplings and valves. The visit also consisted of presentations regarding Victaulic’s Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) and estimating capabilities.
Since the visit, Black & Veatch has reached out to coordinate on future opportunities. One of the areas of interest in collaboration are with future large-diameter projects. Victaulic is currently supporting a large scale EPC project with Black & Veatch. On this project, Victaulic is working to implement products that were displayed and demonstrated during this visit.
Victaulic’s Dan Christian commented that the visit by Black & Veatch “strengthened the Victaulic’s relationship with Black & Veatch” and that “both companies can benefit and continue to grow with adoption of Victaulic applications and build methodology.”
